The Grinch of Copyright: Holiday Lawsuit Spree by Strike 3

If you thought Strike 3 Holdings might take a break for the holidays to roast chestnuts or sing carols, you were dead wrong. While the rest of the world was wrapping gifts and making New Year’s resolutions, the nation’s most prolific copyright litigant was busy wrapping up 352 new federal lawsuits.

From December 22nd, 2025 through January 7th, 2026, the “John Doe” factory went into overdrive. They filed right up until Christmas Eve, took a brief breath, and then exploded into the New Year with a massive filing blitz in California.

Here is the breakdown of the Holiday Hangover wave.

The Grinch of the Docket: Pre-Christmas Filings

Nothing says “Happy Holidays” quite like a federal summons. Strike 3 filed dozens of cases on December 22nd and 23rd, ensuring that court clerks in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Texas had plenty of paperwork to stuff their stockings with.

  • Texas Southern District: On Dec 22nd alone, they filed nearly 20 cases.
  • Illinois Northern: A massive cluster dropped just before Santa’s sleigh took flight.
  • Maryland: Even on Christmas Eve (Dec 24), they squeezed in three filings. Because apparently, copyright enforcement waits for no reindeer.

The New Year’s Resolution: Sue Everyone in California

As the calendar flipped to 2026, Strike 3 unveiled their New Year’s resolution: Conquer the West Coast.

Starting January 5th, a tsunami of cases hit California.

  • Central District of California (Los Angeles): A massive block of filings on Jan 5th.
  • Northern District of California (San Francisco/Silicon Valley): Dozens of cases filed on Jan 6th and 7th.

If you live in California and pay for internet, you are currently in the eye of the storm.

The “Ethics” of It All?

Perhaps the funniest detail in this mountain of litigation comes from the Southern District of California. Several cases filed on December 22nd (e.g., 3:25-cv-03722) were categorized under “05:0101 Ethics in Government Act.”

We are 99.9% sure this is a clerical error by the filing attorney (it should be Copyright Infringement). But the irony of a prolific adult film copyright troll filing suits under the “Ethics in Government Act” is a holiday miracle we can all chuckle at.

The Hotspots

While California took the gold medal this round, the map is lit up everywhere:

  • New Jersey & Pennsylvania: Still the reliable engines of East Coast filing.
  • New York (Eastern & Southern): A steady stream of subpoenas for the Big Apple.
  • Georgia & Florida: The South remains a key target.
  • Hawaii: Even paradise isn’t safe, with a handful of cases filed on Dec 30th.

What Now?

If you are one of the 352 lucky winners of a Strike 3 lawsuit this holiday season, the “silence” of late October is officially over. The machine is back, it’s fully automated, and it is aggressive.

The takeaway: Strike 3 Holdings doesn’t take holidays. If you receive a notice from your ISP (Comcast, Verizon, AT&T, etc.) referencing one of these case numbers, do not ignore it hoping it will go away like a bad fruitcake. It won’t.
